9th July, 2013, Cairo: The interim head of state of Egypt has set a fast time table for parliamentary elections to take the country out of crisis following the oust of Islamist President Mohamed Morsi previous week that sparked a series of bloodshed in the country. According to reports, Adli Mansour issued a decree that pointed a parliamentary poll withing 6 months.
On Friday, at least 35 people were killed following clashes between anti-Morsi and pro-Morsi supporters.
On Monday, at least 51 people were killed when security forces opened fire at Morsi supporters camped near the Republican Guard barracks in Cairo. It is believed that Mohamed Morsi is held at Republican Guard barracks. The army stated that they started to fire following an attack by armed assaulter.
Mohamed Morsi’s party Muslim Brotherhood called for more demonstrations on Tuesday escalating the risk of more violence.
Egypt is witnessing such tension for the second time in last two and half years.
