14th June, 2013, Washington DC: Barack Obama, the President of the United States, has authorized delivering weapons to the rebel fighters in Syria. Earlier, it was also reported that White House has prove that President Bashar al-Assad’s government used chemical weapons against rebel forces. 
According to reports, the Syrian rebels has immediately asked for anti aircraft as well a other sophisticated weapons. The US decision came at a time when Syrian government forces and its Hezbollah allies fighting a fierce battle on the North. Last week, they took control of the strategic town of Qusair.
Yesterday, a data released by the United Nations, showed that nearly 93000 people have lost their lives in the civil war which is going on for two years now.
The United Nations documented 92901 killings between March 2011 to April 2013. Releasing the figure, the United Nations’ human rights office acknowledged that the actual number could be much higher than that.
The figures released earlier in January showed 60000 killings by the end of November 2012. United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said, “The constant flow of killings continues at shockingly high levels, with more than 5,000 killings documented every month since last July,”
“This is most likely a minimum casualty figure. The true number of those killed is potentially much higher.”
